Visto hoy en Sevilla.
Os traigo en esta ocasión al Libro de Oro un mechero Zippo dorado y grabado que ha llamado mi atención.
Está grabado en sus dos caras. A mi me resulta bastante exótico, la verdad, puesto que pertenece a un inglés amigo mio: Alejandro Fiske Harrison «Xander».
En una cara, muestra un toro y dos fechas que resultan ser la del primer tentadero en el que participó en la finca «Miravalles» y la fecha de cuando mató un Saltillo. Junto a ellas el hierro de la rueda de Saltillo.
Xander ha vivido bastante tiempo en Andalucía para empaparse del ambiente taurino, ha tomado clases con el magnífico torero el Maestro Eduardo Dávila Miura y se ha entrenado para matar un toro «bravo» de la casta Saltillo (una de las ganaderías más temidas con toros que «aprenden» si no se está en el sitio…) y escribir después el libro INTO THE ARENA.
En la otra cara del encendedor, el hierro de la magnífica y emblemática ganadería Miura ,otras dos fechas y el escudo de Navarra, puesto que este señor que estudió en primero en Eton y luego en Oxford, tambien corre todos los años delante de los toros en Pamplona!!
Este detalle de fechas grabadas, que pudieran parecer de amor, son más bien fechas y datos de valentía; algo curioso y una historia al fin y al cabo » romántica» digna de viajeros ingleses del XIX y que se esconde en el mechero dorado que os traigo hoy.
Seen today in Seville. I present to you in the gold book an engraved golden Zippo lighter that caught my attention.
It has been engraved on both sides. It looks rather exotic to me…as It belongs to an English friend of mine: Alexander Fiske Harrison, «Xander».
On one side there is a bull, the symbol of the Saltillo breed (el hierro) and two dates: his first tentadero at the farm»Miravalles» and his first bullfight. Xander has lived in Andalusia for quite a while, has taken «toreo» bulfighting lessons from great bullfighter el Maestro Eduardo Dávila Miura and has killed a Saltillo bull (one of the most ferocious and «clever» bulls that exist) in order to write the book INTO THE ARENA.
On the other side the Miura symbol «hierro»; another iconic breed , two more dates and the Navarra crest , as this etonian gentleman who studied at Oxford University also runs in front of bulls at Palmplona!! This curious brave , not romantic detail I wanted to share with you!
